GRANGES LE BOURG
The estate of Granges was formerly one of the most important and ancient seigniory of the county. It used to reign over 50 villages. Granges le Bourg has conserved witnesses of this rich past. The castle was burnt in the 17th century, it existed since 1190. The granges family kept its rights on it until the 15th century. In the village, a lot of beautiful houses were preserved as the “Bailli house” with its square tower, the “Racle house” and its Renaissance style façade, the “Gaudy house”, a farm of the 16th century… The St Peter Cross (14th century) is situated behind the church of Granges la Ville (go along he church on the left side). It is sculpted on both faces: one of the sides shows the Christ, the other one St Peter.
