GRANGES LA VILLE
The village of Grange la Ville has always been a part of the Granges estate. The name of the commune comes from the Latin villa which means “village” whereas Granges “le Bourg” signify the proximity of the seignorial castle. The church that was rebuilt in 1721 in red sandstone is dedicated to St Peter. The interior design, of great quality is constituted by nine retables (18th century). Beside the church, there is a nice presbytery built with sandstone dating from 18th century. Walking along the left side of the church, you reach the St Pierre Cross of Granges le Bourg. On the territory of the commune, there is a sandstone fountain, in the woods, water supplied by a spring. The sandstone was here very much used, thanks to a nearby ancient quarry.
