ATHESANS ETROITEFONTAINE

ATHESANS ETROITEFONTAINE ATHESANS ETROITEFONTAINE
The village of Athesans is associated to its church, with its nice “comtois” steeple and its castle dating from the 18th century which was built with red sandstone. Étroitefontaine is a village which was linked to Athesans: there, you will see the splendid fountain with semi-octagonal pools associating curves and angles. During the 18th century, the prosperous forges were built on the river Rognon in Saint-Georges. In fact, the subsoil was very rich with ore which in the past favoured the steel industry in Haute-Saône. In the 19th century became the hamlet famous because of the “Tacot” railway station, which was situated at the end of the line. A date to remember: the autumn fair, the 1st Sunday of September. Many skilled tradesmen and producers are present.
